PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

These questions require the students to have already read "The Masque of the Red Death" by Edgar Allan Poe. They will be analyzing the artwork of Albrecht Durer and comparing it to the symbolism in Poe's story. I have included instructions regarding the artwork and how I used it in the classroom. An answer key for the questions is also provided. This activity is a great way to meet the new Common Core standard that asks students to evaluate a subject in two different artistic mediums. I usually have students do this assignment in pairs, but it could also be done individually. The worksheet for the students is formatted so there are two per page, in order to minimize photocopying.
