This is a very clear lesson that does three things:
1) Introduces the teacher and students to the seven common reasons to use special type (italics, bold type, or all capital letters) in handwitten or computer-generated documents.
2) Contains a practice worksheet with twelve sample sentences for students to demonstrate understanding of the rules. Answers provided.
3) Contains a text document with special type examples for students to read to recognize how special type works in a real story. There is a suggestion in the instructions that they write their own story and use some special type in it (the teacher can decide if they want to use that, which could extend the lesson to two teaching periods).
