Grandpa A began first grade in 1932. He lived in Northern Wisconsin and attended a one room school. Here is a very short story written by Grandpa describing his thoughts of this school. The short story is followed by ten simple questions about the story, as well as questions that compare Grandpa's experience to your students' experience. The lesson concludes with your student drawing a picture of your school, your class, and you!
We loved creating a bulletin board containing the pictures we drew of our school, and then pictures of all sorts of other schools we found from all over the world. Talking about all of these different schools was very interesting and led us to find a penpal class from another country. We are continuing to learn about one another's schools.
This lesson is five pages.
This lesson is best suited to 2nd-4th graders.
