This is an independent work packet that I created to be used with the Rigby Guided Reading Program for fourth grade, more specifically “Let Art Do the Talking” nonfiction book. It has five parts to the packet. Part one is vocabulary activities, the words that are used are suggested by the program. Part two is the reading response part. The students use the guided reading book to answer comprehension questions. Part three relates to the Comprehension Quarterly (CQ) issue that goes along with this guided reading book. Part four is an activity related to a comprehension strategy (i.e. asking questions, using and extending what you know, etc.). Part five is titled "Returning to the Text," this section has one longer activity that relates to the story.
If you would like to preview of a full packet, view my “Treasure Lost at Sea” packet.
