Looking for an Orff lesson that is a digital resource and will work on all interactive boards, tablets and web browsers? Your elementary music students will love the engaging activities and the interactive slides included in the lesson plan, the PowerPoint or Web version of the visuals. You will love that you can use the song and the Orff arrangement for a performance piece on a program or concert!

The traditional folk song has been extended with an original B and C section making it a perfect piece for a musical experience or performance with or without recorders. The piece can be used to sing the entire form or enhance it by playing soprano recorders. Use the traditional A section to work on playing GABD on the recorder. The B section (with an original melody and lyrics) was written so my students could continue to practice reading and playing GAB on the recorder and be immediately successful. Adding the C section (with an original melody and lyrics) will allow your students to have additional experience playing GABD on the recorder. It is a perfect addition to your Orff and Kodaly curriculum.

The set of Lesson Plans and Interactive Visuals include:

• 9 lessons each 6-10 minutes (8 pdf pages) plus an Orff Orchestration. The lesson plans include detailed instructions for teaching the song, recorder, melody (Do Re Mi or Do Re Mi Sol), movement, form, dance and Orff Orchestration. Extensions and adaptions are also addressed.

• 58 visuals (with 45 slides being teacher and/or student interactive) may be used to reinforce recorder playing, melodic reading and aurally identifying melodic patterns. You will have everything you need to teach all the lessons.

It is a perfect piece to address curricular concepts while enjoying making music. It is also a great spiraling activity. Teach the song “Let Us Chase the Squirrel” along with the B section to your first year recorder players and bring it back the following year adding the C section on the recorder. Or use the lesson and ear training slides to teach the song “Let Us Chase the Squirrel” (Do Re Mi or Do Re Mi Sol).

It is a perfect piece to address curricular concepts while enjoying making music. Add it to your grade level program with or without recorders.
