This PowerPoint presentation contains a slide for 50 different Visual Artists. Each slide has the artist's name and birthdate as well as a picture of one of the artist's works. Also, every colorful slide has a picture of each artist wearing a birthday hat! Use this in your Art classroom to discuss famous Artists and their great works. THis is a great way to incorporate some Art History in your lessons, as well as a fun way to critique the works.
In my Elementary Art classroom, we have birthday parties for the artists and we critique the art (K5-2nd in a class discussion, 3rd+ written assessment) and then spend the remaining class time making art in that particular artist's style or medium. Example: Paul Cezanne's birthday- we do our discussion or critique, then the students break up into groups and draw a quick still life at their table and color it. My students love our birthday parties and I use it as a FUN way to get discussion or written assessments, Art history connections, and then hands on exploration based on each artist. Your students will love this too!
There are 50 artists included, and if your favorite is missing just email me and I can send you the artists you want. Since this is a PowerPoint document, you can add in text boxes and edit how you see fit.
