You've made it to the 100th Day of School!!! Don't just celebrate on the one special day--spread out the fun all week long! These activities are designed to use in your literacy centers the week of the 100th day. They are not focused around math skills, but are simply designed around a sparkly ballon/celebration theme. Everything is more fun with a little sparkle! :)
THIS SET CONTAINS 4 LITERACY CENTER ACTIVITIES:
WRITE THE ROOM CENTER--CvC FIX
Hang the picture cards around the classroom, & copy the recording page for students to write on. Students hunt to find the cards, look at the pictures to read the words, and fix the missing letters on their recording page.
WRITING CENTER--100 BALLOONS
Students write/illustrate what they would do with 100 balloons.
WORD WORK CENTER--NWF BALLOON BUILDING
Print 2 copies of the building mat & laminate for durability. Put gold/silver vowel cards in a bowl/basket and purple consonant cards in another basket. Copy recording page for students to write on. Students draw out 3 letter cards & place on building mat to practice tapping sounds/blending the word. Students record the word they made and color the face to show if it is a real or nonsense word.
ABC CENTER--LETTER POP!
Cut out letter cards & laminate for durability. Students flip all cards upside down, and take turns flipping over one card at a time. IF they can correctly name the letter (*or sound), they get to keep the card. If they draw a POP! card, they have to return all of their cards back to the middle. The winner is the student who has the most cards at the end of the game.
