Drawing shapes may be difficult at the beginning of the year. But drawing is a great way to teach vocabulary.
Teaching drawing can also help with writing. Students need basic drawing skills to prepare them to form different letters of the alphabet. After students learn how to write their letters and begin to write sentences, having some basic drawing skills will help them illustrate their stories.
The Let’s Draw Shapes packet focuses on four shapes:
circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles.
Students practice drawing four pictures for each shape.
Students also get practice counting each shape.
