This file contains an activity that you can do as a warm-up, cool-down, or just any time you are looking to get the students moving. It can be done at any grade level and can be modified however you feel fit, depending on the students you have in class. It’s called “ Lets get healthy,” and it is to help reinforce the idea of eating right and staying physically fit. This activity allows students to see different challenges in the way of achieving their goal of staying physically fit as they play the game. A great game that the students enjoy without realizing that the main concept is that we face challenges everyday and the choices we make will impact the way we choose to live. It’s a great way to tie physical fitness into Nutrition by combining both at the same time. It requires the following concepts to be worked on during the activity: cooperation, teamwork, communication, sportsmanship, loco-motor skills, speed, quickness, agility, and dodging. The activity uses very little equipment, that incorporates to the students a different way to see why having a healthy diet and staying physically is important. An example in the game would be that the students have to try get past the challenge of cookies and candy or watching too much TV that stand in their way of getting into the Health Zone, Enjoy!
