This resource provides you with 40 Story Starters to get your students writing creative narratives. I have provided TWO examples of how I teach the writing process using the Story Starters and I hope you find these useful. I take you through the planning stage, focusing on Setting, Characters, the Problem, and Major Events, and show you in a graphic organizer how you can have your students plan their own stories.
Also provided are two COMPLETE stories based on the two planned examples I mentioned to you earlier. These are for you to share with your students before they embark on their own writing journeys. This resource can be used in the United States, Canada, or elsewhere – narrative writing is at the heart of elementary school literacy programs and this resource will hopefully provide you with a plan to get the most out of your students’ writing.
