It’s time to go... Christmas shopping! Help your students celebrate the holiday season while applying real world math skills with this super fun math activity.
After seeing how many people enjoyed my “Shopping for Thanksgiving Dinner” math activity, I thought I would make a Christmas-themed project! In this activity, students get to select Christmas gifts for the people on their shopping list, but they have to stick to their budget!
I really wanted to make sure that this activity could reach a wide range of learners, so there are several different activity levels. Included in this unit are:
- TWO different “At the Store” item options (one with prices to the dollar, one with prices that have dollars and change)
-EIGHT different activity pages (with different budget levels and number of people to shop for)
-ONE blank activity page (so teachers can determine budgets and number of people to shop for)
-ONE analysis page (so students can explain their thinking)
-TWELVE extension activity task cards (to give students even more of a challenge)

You can also download my Shopping for Thanksgiving Dinner
activity for free!
Since there are so many different ways to use this product, it can be appropriate for many different grade levels. I am even going to have my kindergartners use it with their 6th grade buddies!
I know your students will love having the chance to be in control of their own Christmas shopping and budget, and will have fun applying real world skills.
Happy holidays! ☺
