"We're Going On A Bear Hunt" is a beloved book by children and teachers. It is a fabulous resource to use when teaching positional words. I created this packet to extend the learning and uses of this picture book in your kindergarten classroom.
I developed this packet with a few objectives in mind.
1. Students will be able to internalize and verbalize positional words.
2. Students will begin to recognize positional written words.
3, Students will be able to sequence a familiar story.
4. Students will work on nomenclature.
5. Students will work on beginning sounds and rhyming patterns.
This packet includes a variety of activities that you can use in your classroom. Each section has its own part yet can be used with others. Many activities use inviting real life pictures that students love.
Sequence Of Events-- Students will use real life pictures to sequence the story book. This section also includes a version that students can use independently at a center.
Small Group Activities/Centers- There are many centers included. Students will play games to help master the objectives mentioned above.
Guided Reading Activities and Resources- I included an emergent reader that I wrote that features real life pictures of bears in the wild. My students absolutely LOVED this. There are three days worth of lesson plans that go with this text.
Printables- There are many, many printables in this packet. Many are perfect for your writing center, morning work, homework, lesson extensions, assessments and more.
Each section comes with a variety of differentiated activities that your kindergarten students are sure to enjoy. My students absolutely loved these activities, books, games, and centers.
