Let’s Have A Picnic: An Auditory Memory Activity
I learned about this game when I was in graduate school and It is a great warm up or quick lesson to end the session. This activity works on auditory memory and concentration. Ideally, you everyone sit on the ground or at a table. Each person says “I am going on a picnic and I’m going to bring ________.” As each person takes a turn, then have to remember all the food that came before them. You try to see how long you can go before someone messes up the picnic menu. I created visuals, so that you can scaffold this game for students who may not be able to recall many items. You can slowly fade the visuals away.
The person who can remember the most picnic foods in a row is the winner! I usually use this activity to work as a group to see how many items we can bring to the picnic.
