Help students organize key terms!
When teaching my middle school students how to classify organisms I always start by pointing out these three important characteristics:
*Unicellular vs. Multicellular
*Autotrophic vs. Heterotrophic
*Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic
This helps them understand why organisms are placed into the three different domains and then into the six different kingdoms.
An answer key has been included.
I generally do not require students to label the cell illustration at the bottom of the organizer. It’s a pretty tight fit when it is hand drawn.
I also have an anchor chart and student activity for teaching the levels of classification from Domain to Species.
