My kids love anything to do with science. They love listening to nonfiction stories, video clips anything with interesting facts and video of real things! I have
decided to design a series of nonfiction units that include QR codes, response sheets, foldables, vocabulary cards using real photos, so that I can set up a science station in my room that my children can use to further their natural desire to know more about different animals and other topics.

-20 Response to listening/viewing worksheets Use them in centers, listening centers, full group science lessons, early finishers, writing center (just put the vocabulary words on a binder ring) and science research!
Some of the types of sheets included are:
-Roll with it comprehension sheet
-Video Review sheet
-Main idea and details
-My schema, new learning and misconceptions
-Many different style sheets to record what was learned
-12 half page vocabulary cards; 12 word wall/pocket chart vocabulary
cards, 12 small vocabulary cards to put on a binder ring for an instant
“portable word wall”, all using real photos!
-21 QR code cards for various videos that are provided to you as “Safeshare” QR codes, so that your students do not have access to distracting commercials or other ‘unrelated videos”. The videos are on a variety of aspects of sharks.
Use some of the response sheets in your listening center, along with the QR codes! Children can listen to the selected video and answer the questions on the response sheet and foldables. They get practice picking out facts, exploring new vocabulary, picking out main idea and details and more all while furthering their natural hunger for information!
What a fun way to bring all these nonfiction topics alive in a quick and easy way in your classroom. They make fun engaging centers, as well work for your early finishers or even great scaffolding for those students who are unable to read nonfiction books on these topics, now they can listen and still access the information!
