Animated Step-by-Steps are animated PowerPoints designed to address literacy, language, AAC and a host of academic goals. Each page includes a series of animations. Read the text up to the star … click … and see an animation of what you just read.
There are three versions of this resource. This is the Regular Version. Please note Animated Step-by-Steps are not compatible with Keynote.
This Science project guides students through the simple steps for creating a ‘cloud in a jar’. As hot water is requred for this activity, adult supervision is strongly recommended. It is important to work quickly (keeping the jar contents hot and keeping the icecubes in the lid cold). I therefore recommend that you review the steps as a literacy activity first, then conduct the activity quickly to ensure ideal conditions for condensation. This resource also includes information on the Water Cycle and is designed to address scientific terminology such as evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, surface runoff and ground water.
This resource can be presented on the ‘large screen’ (interactive whiteboard, large screen TV using Apple TV) or the ‘small screen’ (computer monitor, iPad/Android tablet using the free Microsoft PowerPoint app). I have found the use of a remote switch to be an excellent way to engage students and allow them to share the magic of triggering the page animations using a switch. If you have an iPad in your classroom the Attainment Switch App can be used to remotely trigger the animations when displaying your ASbyS on the interactive whiteboard. The pen tools of the interactive whiteboard are used to label the Water Cycle diagram.
