A great way for students to learn the continents and oceans!
I think your students will enjoy the “Let’s Map: The Continents” file. I have found this to be an excellent way for students to learn and remember the seven continents and where they are located.
When students map the continents, they assign colors and/or patterns to each one they need to identify. They fill in the key and the continent with the assigned color/pattern. In the example on the right, the student chose orange with black dots for Australia. She then colored the correct continent using that pattern and color combination.
This file includes three levels of continent identification:
The first picture contains a blank map where students color-code the continents and label the five oceans.
The second picture contains a blank map where students color-code the continents.
The third picture contains a labeled map where students color-code the continents
You can have your students use solid colors to differentiate between the parts of the map or you can let them run wild and choose patterns and designs. Either way, this activity is great for referencing what they’ve learned. It also works well as classroom and hallway bulletin board displays.
