Product Description
Your students will enjoy great garden fun with this activity!

"Let's Plant a Garden" is a wonderful game with so many different ways of playing. It is a combination of a “write-the-room” and a rhythmic composition activity. There are 16 rhythmic cards (4 for each category) with a short phrase attached to each rhythm. Rhythm cards are included in staff and stick notation.
First, print, cut, and laminate (if possible) each of the rhythm cards. Copy the student sheets for your class. Disperse and hide each of the rhythm cards around the room. Students search for these cards, looking for one of each of the 4 categories – tools, seeds, water, and light. They record the rhythm and/or the words on their student sheet (included). They only need one for each category, so they need to keep searching until they fill all four of their blocks on the page. After they have completed this, students can play their garden composition, using one kind of classroom instrument or a different instrument for each block. It can also serve as building blocks to creating a mini-Orff arrangement, with each of the blocks being performed at the same time as ostinatos.

You and your students will definitely enjoy this unique activity with so many options for varying grade levels!

Rhythms used include: ta, ti-ti, and ta rest/quarter, beamed 8ths, and quarter rest
