These handouts can be used to facilitate carryover of communication skills of beginning communicators. I typically use them with my nonverbal preschool and early elementary population to help them use newly learned skills/vocabulary across multiple settings.
Included in this packet:
12 parent handouts that include the ASL sign and playtime suggestions for building language with common children’s toys and electronics
12 full color photo picture cards
12 black and white illustrated picture cards
General Notes about the Product
I am providing the picture cards and illustrations as an extra resource, but I have found that pictures of the objects a child is familiar with help as well. As an alternative, symbols such as those from Smarty Symbols may be used.
I use these handouts as carryover for my beginning communicators. I try to provide the parents with the same symbol system I use in therapy so that they can be consistent at home.
I could not find an exact sign for Play Doh, so “dough” was used.
Thanks for taking a look!
