Description
Do you need hands-on activities and games to help your little mathematicians practice telling time to the hour and half hour? This packet includes all of my favorite telling time activities!
*Create a Clock- A variety of clock templates for students to create their very own clock.
*What Time Is It?- Students all wear a paper wristwatch. They walk around the room and record the times that they see on their friends’ watches. {time to the hour and half hour}
*It's TIME to Scoot- Students scoot around the room and draw the hands on the analog clocks representing the digital times on the Scoot cards. {time to the hour and half hour}
*I Spy Telling Time-Students walk around the room to spy on the analog clock cards. They write the times they show on their recording sheet. {time to the hour and half hour}
*Spin a Time #1- Analog clock spinners {time to the hour, time to the half hour, and both time to the hour & half hour}
*Spin a Time #2- Digital clock spinners {time to the hour, time to the half hour, and both time to the hour & half hour}
*Time's Up- Students take turns getting a card and matching it to the correct analog clock on their game board. If they get a “Time’s Up” card, they must remove one of the times from their game board. The winner is the first person to cover up all of their times. {3 different game boards and card sets- time to the hour, time to the half hour, and both time to the hour and half hour}
*Time Bump- Students take turns pulling a digital time card from a bag and covering that time with a counter on their game board. If a clock already has a counter on it, the other partner has a chance to BUMP it off. {time to the hour and half hour}
*Four in a Row- Students take turns making a time using the hour and minutes spinners. Then, they find and cover the time with a counter on the game board. First student to cover four in a row, WINS! {time to the hour and half hour}
*It's Game TIME- Students read the analog clock their counter lands on.The first person to reach the finish line first is the winner!{3 different game boards- time to the hour, time to the half hour, and both time to the hour and half hour}
*Race Against Time- Students race against a partner to match the digital clock cards to the correct analog clocks. The student to cover up all the analog clocks with the correct digital times first, WINS!{time to the hour and half hour}
* I Have, Who Has- This is a fun whole group activity you can use to practice telling time to the hour and half hour.
*Time Puzzles-Students find the matching time shown in pictures, numbers, and/or words. {telling time to the hour and half hour}
