Explanation: Let’s Reset! is to be used to help students step away from their frustrations and reset their minds and bodies. When a student is experiencing frustration with what they are doing and they can’t seem to stop or be flexible in just letting it go, work with them to reset where they are and give their brain a break. Work with students so that when they hear you say, “Let’s Reset!” they know to choose an option from the tokens/cards below and do the assigned action. Remind them that this isn’t a negative consequence; it’s simply a chance to reset. This could be used in different ways. One way could be to have the tokens/cards on one sheet and have students point to the option they would like to do. Then they could cross it off with a dry-erase marker and choose an available option the next time needed. Another way is to cut out the tokens/cards and have them in a bag or envelope. When the student hears “Let’s Reset!” he/she reaches in and grabs a token/card and does the assigned action. Remember, when students are upset/frustrated, it is difficult for them to make choices to help themselves. It may be helpful for the teacher to choose the action for the student if this is the case.
