Product Description

My favorite way to teach is with math centers that seem like games! The Place Value Roll is the best because it can be used over and over again with all different numbers which provides A LOT of practice!

For this center, they roll either 2 dice or 1 die two times to make a 2 digit number. Students will need to write the standard form, expanded form, how many tens and how many ones are in that number, and then draw a picture of what that number should look like. Still not sure??? Check out my preview!

Try using a 10 sided dice for students performing above grade level- BOOM! Differentiated! I recommend printing this activity on thick paper or even cardstock for durability or of course use that laminator!

Keep this as a center or CAN DO for a lot of practice and since there are so many number possibilities, the kiddos won't get bored. If you wanted to make this a partner center (or to add a challenge), have students work with a partner or in groups and make it a game. Kids take turns rolling and writing their tens/ones/number, whoever has the highest number for that round circles their number and wins that round. Whoever has the most circles when the sheet is filled wins! It's always fun to add a little friendly competition to make it more fun but these are great independent practice as well.

This product includes: 1 page that has an "example" of how to write the numbers and 1 page that has just the activity with no example.

There is a variety of options on how to use this with your individual students. It is perfect for reinforcing addition skills, morning work, homework, remediation, math centers for early finishers, and SO much more!

Build your students’ math fact fluency with this activity! Your students will love practicing composing numbers!
