This is an adorable and fun activity for students of all ages during the fall/Thanksgiving season. It has your students creating a persona for Tom the Turkey and writing about it. It covers art, creativity, beginning, middle, end, writing, editing science and using their imagination. You can take Tom and teach main idea and paragraph writing as well. This can be your few days before the break, whole days worth of lessons! I have used Tom for the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving to teach all my subject areas. You can use this as just a small in class project, an at home project or you can even take this into your Science curriculum and use it to enhance your unit of adaptations and the use of camouflage if you chose to take it there. This is the base idea and you can take it however you like. My class has a great time with this year after year and it makes those few days before the Thanksgiving Break so much fun and ties together so many subject areas. I know your students will love this as much as mine.
