Product Description
If your school has purchased iPads or other smart devices and you are a little nervous or leery of using them, QR code activities are one of the easiest ways to implement these devices in your classroom.

In this back to school scavenger hunt, you will familiarize your students with important places/objects in their classroom, as well as the smart devices available in your classroom, in a fun, interactive way. You and your students will read riddles and scan the QR code using your smart device on the back of each card to discover the next place/object you will find in the classroom. In this activity, you and your students will locate:
1) Teacher’s Desk
2) The Door
3) The Clock
4) Pencil Sharpener
5) The Board
6) Supply Area
7) Calendar/Date
8) Classroom Library
9) Computer/Technology Area
10) Light Switch
11) Completed Work Trays
12) Backpack Area
13) Mailboxes* (If you don’t have mailboxes in your classroom, instructions are provided in the activity on how to omit this card.)
14) Student Desks


**Please make sure you have a smart device (iPad, tablet, phone, etc.) that can scan QR codes before purchasing this product. You must also have Internet access on the device(s) used.

Directions:
Prior to the activity, you will need to print this activity, cut/fold the cards following the directions provided, and place them in the designated locations around your classroom (i.e. teacher’s desk, classroom library, supply area, etc.). NOTE: The place/object on the front will not match the clue on the back. The clues on the back are designed to lead students to the next location.

Two methods of play are included in the activity:

Whole-Class Method: Read (or have a student read) the card labeled “START” to the class. Allow students to try to solve the riddle. Once they reach a consensus, scan (or have a student scan) the QR code on the card using the QR reader you downloaded. A card will pop up on the screen telling the class where they’ll find the next clue. Turn the card back over, and travel to the next location as a class or call on a student to retrieve the card at the next location. Repeat until you reach the “Student Desks” card with “The End” on the back.
(You will need 1 smart device for the Whole-Class Method.)

Team/Group Method: Distribute one “START” card per team/group. One team member should read the card labeled “START” to their group. Team members should try to solve the riddle. Once the team reaches a consensus, one student should scan the QR code on the card using the QR reader you downloaded. A card will pop up on the screen telling the team where they’ll find the next clue. They’ll turn the card over, and travel to the next location, and repeat until they reach the “Student Desks” card with “The End” on the back. Once all students are seated back in their desks, you’ll know they have finished the classroom scavenger hunt.
(You will need 1 smart device per team/group for the Team/Group Method).
