This cooperative learning activity integrates social studies and math. Students are given an invitation to begin their travels. Students are assigned to a group (4 per group) The banker is given an allotted amount of money (I suggest $2,000-$4,000, which can vary for each group) Each student will have a different role and they will work together to complete the task at hand. Personally, I put all the materials in a briefcase-like container or tote to simulate luggage. Each group gets a “suitcase” that includes their materials, directions, tasks, and roles.
