Product Description
Welcome to the ice cream shop! These ice cream themed task cards would be a perfect review before summer break, though they can be used year-round because, who doesn't love ice cream?

This packet contains 20 task cards that provide real-world money practice for students, as well as an extension sheet of questions involving the task card answers. Not only do these task cards cover the concept of money for students, but they also review multiplying and adding decimals, so they would be ideal for 4th or 5th grade students. Each task card contains the orders for one day at the ice cream shop. Using the menu provided, students must calculate the total amount of money made by the shop each day.

The specific common core standards covered are:

4.MD.2 - Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals.

5.NBT.7 - Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.

These task cards can be used:
As a group activity: Post the cards around your room and allow students to move around, completing the questions.

As a small group or individual activity: Keep the task cards in a math center for independent practice.

Two recording sheets are provided. The first is a half-page version that provides space for all 20 task card answers. Students can use additional notebook paper to show their work and then use the sheet to record only their answers. The second (full-page) recording sheet provides space for 10 answers, but provides space for students to show their work. Students can use this sheet if they are only required to complete a selection of 10 task cards, or it can be photocopied double-sided for students to complete all task cards. A student version of instructions and the menu are included for students using the half-page recording sheet. A menu is included on the full-page recording sheet.

An extension question sheet is provided that requires students to answer questions based on the information they obtained from completing all 20 task cards. This can be used for all students, or just early finishers.

**Task cards are provided in two versions - color and black & white**
