Your students will enjoy writing a poem about Dr. Seuss during Literacy Week, Poetry Month (April) or ANYTIME!

1. Review three different types of rhyme schemes with your class using the attached ‘Rhyming Pattern Review’ PowerPoint

2. Have your students practice writing their own 4-line poems using the three different types of rhyme schemes reviewed (aabb, abab, abcb)

3. Your students will then be ready to write a 3-stanza poem about ANYTHING Dr. Seuss using a consistent rhyming pattern
