Use the organizers provided to help your students write detailed sentences about the photos! They will practice using different adjectives, verbs, and nouns to describe the picture. They may also learn about an animal they have never heard of before and learn some new vocabulary words from their peers.
There are 46 pages with graphic organizers, photos, and lines for students to work on their detailed sentences. I have provided 5 example pages on how to fill out the organizers and write detailed sentences using the organizers. There is also a blank page provided in which you can add your own photo to go along with a theme you are teaching.
The photos are on each page to make describing it very accessible for the students. I have also provided a PDF with the larger color images you can project for the students to see and talk about. This is especially helpful if you are like me and do not have a color printer/copier at your school.
Start using these pages whole-group and focus on describing the photos orally. Work towards independence. My students were able to use these to write detailed sentences during their writing center in the middle of the year (1st grade). My students were always excited to see which photo they would get for the day-kids just love animals!
Thanks and enjoy!
