This is a fun game for practicing identifying letters and associating letters with sounds. Use in small groups or as an intervention activity. Print out on colored cardstock or mount on construction paper and laminate for a game that can be used for years to come. Students love this interactive activity. To play just call out a letter name (S, M, R, T, or B. You may specify if it should be capital or lowercase or let the students choose) and then the students may place a marker/counter on that letter. Once a student has four in a row they win! Continue playing until a student hits "Blackout" where the entire board is covered with markers. Variations of this game are: showing students pictures that begin with the letters and they figure out the beginning sounds, or teacher calls out the sounds of the letters and students mark that letter with their markers. Have fun playing and learning!
