A collection of 9 stations plus a FREEBIE dictation assessment, FREEBIE handwriting practice, and FREEBIE word search that help students learn and independently practice the /g/ sound.
This includes a student choice board with files and directions for accompanying station activities. All activities print PERFECTLY in black and white or color!
These stations are designed to be used for one week where students select one station per day or could also be used for two weeks in which all stations will be completed by the end of the two week period.
The open nature of the activities allows for differientiated levels to be met with your students while working on the same concept.
CHALLENGE: Stations 1, 4, 5, 6, 9, and DICTATION have additional pages that use the same activity but with HIGHER skill levels needed to complete them.
Station 1: Book - Students create their own /g/ book by labeling or writing sentences using the concept. There is a place to add illustrations.
Station 2: Space Race Game- Students go on a Galaxy Quest to discover unknown planets while reading words with /g/ along the way.
Station 3: Build A Word- Students use letter tiles to build CVC words with /g/ to match each picture.
Station 4: G/Not G Picture or Toy Sort- Sort the pictures onto the correct side. Label each picture.
Station 5: Color, Cut, and Label- Students will label the pictures that use the /g/ sound, cut them out, and glue them on their word work.
Station 6: Stamp and Write- Students will look at the picture, pound the word, then stamp or write the beginning sound and then the word (depending on level of the student).
Station 7: Back to Back- Students will sit back to back with a friend. Students will give each other clues about the /g/ words. Students will keep the card if they guess it correctly. The student with the most cards at the end wins!
Station 8: Galaxy Matching- Students will match the pictures to the /g/ words.
Station 9: Make it, Paint it, Tear it! - Students may create any /g/ item by painting a picture, torn paper art, or by using various art materials to come up with their own creative masterpiece. They use their creation as inspiration to write a sentence or a fiction or non-fiction story depending on their level.
