This letter and sound identification packet includes a sheet that represents each letter (A-Z) of the alphabet in both upper and lower case. In this activity, students practice identifying letters, letter sounds, and writing upper and lower case letters. Each letter (except letter x) has a set of 3 matching pictures with words (the words can easily be removed if you are solely working on phonics/letter sounds). Each letter also has a line for students to practice writing the letter several times (upper and lower case) and a "letter find" box where students act as "investigators" to find the letter (upper and lowercase) and highlight it or color it in.
This packet is easily modified to suit your students'/classroom needs. (i.e. you can focus on solely letter ID, phonics, letter formation, or both).
I use this as an intervention for my first graders. I laminated the sheets and put them in a binder for students to practice during centers (students practice the letters of the week).
I have distributed this activity to various teachers (Kindergarten and 1st grade) in my school and they all use it differently. One 1st grade teacher and an ESOL teacher put them in page protectors and uses it to prime students for phoneme and segmenting intervention, and a Kindergarten teacher laminated the sheets and keeps them in a folder for letter practice during reading (students practice the letter of the week and previous weeks letters are provided for repetition and practice).
This is a versatile activity with a lot of options for you to modify and implement it according to your own kids' needs.
