As part of learning the sound of the letter K, I have created an art project featuring a king. I usually complete this project in two days; however, you may choose to do it in one depending upon the needs of your children.
On the first day, the children color the king and on the second day, they have their choice of gold or silver glitter to outline the crown and then decorate the crown with plastic jewels that you may purchase at any craft shop.
To accompany the project, you may also teach your students this song, sung to the tune of "Mary Had a Little Lamb":
King Ken had a kangaroo, kangaroo, kangaroo;
King Ken had a kangaroo, he loves it very much!
Kangaroos can't fly kites, can't fly kites, can't fly kites;
Kangaroos can't fly kites, and that makes King Ken sad.
Kangaroos can kiss kings, can kiss kings, can kiss kings;
Kangaroos can kiss kings, and that makes King Ken glad!
