A collection of 9 stations plus several FREEBIES that help students learn and independently practice the /p/ sound. See a list of all the FREEBIES below :).
This includes a student choice board with files and directions for accompanying station activities. All activities print PERFECTLY in black and white or color!
These stations are designed to be used for one week where students select one station per day or could also be used for two weeks in which all stations will be completed by the end of the two week period.
The open nature of the activities allows for differientiated levels to be met with your students while working on the same concept.
Station 1: My Pp Book: Students draw a picture on each page of a word that begins or ends with letter Pp. Then label the picture in the space below.
Challenge: Students will write sentences about the pictures they draw.
Station 2: Color, Cut, and Label: Students color the pictures that have the /p/ sound at the beginning or end. Then they cut them out, glue them to their mat, and label each word.
Station 3: Word Search: Students will illustrate the pictures with the /p/ sound, find in the word search, then write a sentence.
Station 4: Cube Game: Students will roll the cube and fill in the game mat with a /p/ word.
Station 5: “Popcorn Toss and Blend”. Students will toss the popcorn, collect the popcorn, then sound out the words. If they blend correctly, they keep their popcorn. The friend with the most WINS!
Station 6: Students will pound the word with their fist, then tap each individual sound. After that, students will use letter tiles to build the words or stamp the words in the boxes. Then students will write a sentence about one of the pictures.
Station 7 Picture Sort: Have students sort the pictures onto the correct side (begin or end with the /p/ sound). Have them label the pictures.
Station 8: Back to Back Game: Students sit back to back with a partner. They draw a card from the bag. They give clues to their partner to help them guess the /p/ word on the card.
Station 9: Make it, Paint it, Tear it! Students can use art materials, paint, or torn paper to make a Pp picture. Then write a sentence to tell about their creation.
CHALLENGE: Stations 1, 2, 7, and 9 have additional pages that use the same activity but with HIGHER skill levels needed to complete them.
