These activities are designed for Kindergarten and First Grade students who struggle with letter recognition. Students who struggle with letter and sound identification will likely struggle with reading later on, as letter and sound identification skills are a predictor of reading success in decoding, comprehension, and spelling. Therefore, it is very important that your students be able to identify all of their letters!
These activities should be teacher-led activities in a small group. Once the students have mastered the activities, they can be transitioned into an independent center activity for review. The materials needed to implement these activities are minimal! An assessment is also included for initial assessment and progress monitoring. The progress monitoring can be used for RTI or MTSS or your own data collecting. These activities are perfect for guided reading, interventions, or RTI/MTSS.
9 activities are included. These include:
Letter/Sound Mat activities
Letter Strip activities
Spin and Write a Letter
Letter Clip Cards
Alphabet Tracing Book
Letter Recognition Activity pages
Also included are flash cards and activity cards with ideas on how to use these different components.
