Product Description

Need a letter recognition activity that your students are sure to love but that is easily differentiated to meet their needs? This fun driving activity is a hands-on way for students practice identifying capital and lowercase letter as well as beginning sounds and alliteration and can be used all year long! This activity works great during whole group, small group, as morning work, or as independent practice during centers.

Included in this activity:

♦ Capital letter "roads" A-Z for students to drive on & practice letter formation

♦ Capital Letter Matching Cards to practice letter ID (A-Z)

♦ Lowercase Letter Matching Cards to practice letter ID (A-Z)

♦ Two different Beginning Sound Picture Cards (for each letter of the alphabet) so that students can practice beginning sounds and alliteration

Ways to differentiate this activity:

♦ For students who are working on capital letter ID and writing letters, provide them with the large letter road cards, small capital letter cards, a toy vehicle, and something to write on (paper, dry erase board, sand, shaving cream, etc.). Instruct students to trace the letter with the car, write the letter, and find the matching letter card.

♦ For students practicing capital and lowercase letter ID and writing, follow the steps above but also include lowercase letter cards.

♦ For students practicing beginning sounds or alliteration, provide them with the large letter cards, a toy vehicle, and the picture (car) cards. Students can either drive the toy vehicle and match the beginning sound cards or drive the cars with the correct beginning sound on the letter.

♦ Students can also practice putting letters in ABC order and driving across the alphabet.
