I like using this activity because it can be used as both a Literacy Center game and an assessment tool.
I introduce the Letter Name/Sound Game to students as a class, and give them lots of opportunity to practice in small groups throughout the school year. During reporting months I will play the game with the students and track their progress, and/or do a quick run through of all the cards with the students. I find it much more effective assessing the students with the same cards/materials as they have been learning and exploring with!
-Print the Letter Names/Sound cards and Sight word game cards onto cardstock and laminate, then cut. Play!!!!!
-make photocopies of the assessment template that you prefer.
