Students work together or with an adult helper to practice letter sound identification while playing the dynamite game. This can be used as a small group activity, a literacy center activity, a take-home activity, or as an intervention activity.
Included are a set of 64 sounds cards:
One set of consonant and vowel cards.
One set of blends and digraphs cards.
Know and apply grade-level phonics.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
Associate the long and short sounds for the five major vowels.
Know the spelling-sound correspondences for common consonant digraphs.
Dynamite is a super simple, but highly engaging game. Students take turns selecting cards. If they know the card they keep it. If not it goes back in the pile/bag/box. But, look out! If a player draws the "Dynamite!" card, OH NO! All their cards go back in. Once all the cards have been selected, the player with the most cards wins.
