As a special educator, I work with many students who have not mastered the letter-sound correspondences. They require explicit instruction in letter-sounds and decoding words with specific letter combinations. My students succeed when provided with multiple opportunities to practice and visual aids. I have pocket charts with sound cards in my room, however I wanted my students to have additional supports in their classrooms. I created the Letter-Sound Visuals for Student Notebooks for my students to use in all settings to promote success during reading and writing. I tried to pick keywords and pictures that would activate student prior knowledge and allow for new learning.
Happy reading & writing!
