This document includes practice sheets for primary children to use as they are learning or practicing letter sounds and the beginning sounds in words (prompted by pictures).
These sheets are perfect for:
- independent morning work
- whole class word work
- small group guided reading instruction
- literacy centers
- and independent homework activities
To complete each sheet, your students can use:
- markers or colored pencils
- bingo stampers (This is a good option if you're short on time.)
Additionally, each sheet encourages the children to brainstorm and draw two more pictures that begin with the sound of the highlighted letter. This prompt is more open-ended and allows children to perform at their own levels.
As a bonus, some of the pages stimulate vocabulary development as some pictures might require a little introduction and explanation if they are unfamiliar to your students.
An ANSWER KEY has been provided at the end of the document.
