Letter Sounds for Visual Learners and Struggling Readers - an effective way to learn! BRAND NEW ACTIVITY!
When a 1st Grade General Education teacher came to me about an inclusion student who just couldn't grasp letter sounds, I knew I had to find a way to help this child. With an idea in mind, I excitedly got to work! The result is this Letter Sounds for Visual Learners and Struggling Readers activity! Using unobtrusive background visuals and strategically placed shadowed letters to aid the student in remembering the letter sound and using a specific teacher script, I am thrilled to announce that we have our little guy learning to read! He silently used the picture cues on each card and stated each letter sound. This was probably one of the most challenging cases I had worked on and am so very happy that his confidence has been boosted.
Watch and listen as your very own students master learning letter sounds! This activity works best for students who have some understanding that a specific sound should belong to a letter, even if they do not know what that sound is.
