I used this activity while teaching A Doll's House, but it could easily be adapted to any other unit or lesson plan! Activity provides a "letter" example from Nora in A Doll's House - speaking to the social role that she wants to break away from. Students are to think of their own social role or stereotype that they want to break, and then write a letter to it. This worked wonderfully in my class and I have had other teachers use it with great success as well. Provides structure for connection and deeper thinking
This could also be adapted to a larger project/writing assignment, especially with a protest unit.
