Great introduction and information piece to help students write friendly letters. This download includes an outline and diagram on how a friendly letter should be written. Also included is information about addressing an envelope and some key points to include when writing a friendly or formal letter.
I really wanted to introduce the formal way to write a letter to my students. I think we get so “socialized” in today’s society that we forget how to actually write to people! I’ve included a full outline, a diagram to show students how it should look, and 4 different templates to use while writing your letters! I’ve included 2 copies of each border, one with a straight line writing format and the other in the outline of the letter format that we use when writing a formal or friendly letter! The students really loved doing this and I had them write to each other along with a response to that person they wrote to! By the end of the year, the students were able to write to me and I in turn wrote to them! It was such a great way to practice not only writing, but helping with the process of thinking about writing. We also worked on punctuation, capitalization, and the many other mechanics we use while writing letters and while writing in general.
