Themed Letter Writing Cards...I cut these out glue laminate them and post in my classroom for a lesson about letter writing with a purpose. I have students choose one of these themes, with a special person in their life in mind. THey are going to write a letter to them, conveying exactly what they think and feel. It can take on any form they would like it to AS LONG AS THEY stay focused on the fact that they are writing a letter to a particular person for REASON. They may want to share thoughts hope, feelings of love, or story of pride. I take the time to go over several examples of these with the students, and let them know that they are nearly suggestions. A student asked me if he could do COURAGE, because his dad showed a lot of courage several years ago. That was perfectly fine, and quite meaningful. Cards are meant to be a guidline to help get ideas flowing. We mail them after the polished copy is done, and the person on the receiving end, is always thrilled. Great lesson.
