This includes a finished example and a black and white printable template for creating a zebra out of the capital letter Z. Students will cut around the black lines and glue the pieces onto a separate sheet of paper. They will also use their knowledge of patterns to color the black and white stripes. Since every zebra's stripes are different, they are also welcome to color whichever stripes they'd like to create their own design! It is great for fine motor development and scissor skills, as well as helping the child to create a visual picture that ties the letter z to its corresponding sound, /z/! You can use this when teaching with Letter of the Week, when introducing them to toddlers, or when reviewing letter sounds with older students for extra practice. They are wonderful to hang in the hallway or around the classroom, and parents will treasure each one they take home.
I've used this with the 4 and 5 year olds in my class and they love it! You can either print it onto colored paper or have them color with crayons, markers, or watercolors. Either way, it turns out super cute!
