Hi! Thanks for taking time to view my product! This Letter of the Week Packet was designed to meet the needs of a wide range of abilities and levels. It will work well in a special needs classroom as well as in a general ed pre-k or kindergarten classroom. Here is what you get:

1 Common Core Alignments Page

The alignments are for your convenience to help make lesson planning easy!

1 Letter Poster + 5 Initial Sounds Posters

These posters are designed to do DOUBLE DUTY!

Use them as visual aids when introducing the letter.

Post them around the room for Write the Room

1 Write the Room Recording Page

Easy to understand format features pictures from the posters at the beginning of each line.

2 Initial Sounds Picture Matching Pages

Another Double Duty Activity! Laminate these pages for durability.

Keep 1 page whole to use as a mat. Cut up the other page to create a vocabulary building matching activity that works quite nicely in a special needs classroom.

Memory: Cut up all of the pieces. Place them face down and have students take turns lifting 2 cards to make a match. Keep matches, return non-matching cards as they were. Whoever makes the most matches wins!

1 Emergent Reader (6 pages, 1 copy makes 2)

So obviously the theme here is DOUBLE DUTY! Review letters & teach words all in 1 shot!

For beginners who are still learning the alphabet, this book features an initial sound picture on each page.

For students who know the alphabet and are ready to read, the book features easy to read repeating sentences which feature common sight words.

In addition to coloring the pictures, have students circle or highlight the letter which appears multiple times in each sentence.

7 Color and Trace Pages

These pages provide daily practice tracing the letter while reinforcing the initial sound. Great for independent practice, homework, or hand-over-hand.

1 Letter Writing Page

Here’s your students’ chance to show what they know! No dotted lines here! Students practice writing the letter on their own.

1 UPPERCASE/lowercase Sort

Students cut and paste letters into their correct space.

1 Letter Sort

Students must distinguish which letter is “the” letter among similarly shaped letters. Cut & glue the correct letters in each square.

2 Initial Sounds Sort Pages

Students must distinguish which pictures begin with the same sound as the letter then cut & glue it in the squares.

1 Search and Find

This page is EITHER/OR. Some packets contain a search and find page and some contain a color the uppercase letter 1 color and the lowercase letter a different color.

1 Collage Page

Time to get artsy! Glue torn construction paper pieces, pom-poms, popsicle sticks or whatever you have onto open face letters!

1 Q-Tip Painting Page

Reinforce letter recognition with this fun Q-tip painting page! Here’s a secret, I don’t always use paint! 9 times out of 10 I use bingo markers- set up is easier and kids love it just as much!

1 Headband Hat

If you have a sentence strip and a stapler then you’ve got the potential for 1 cool hat! Each hat features the letter of the week and comes with 4 initial sounds pictures for the students to color and glue onto their sentence strip.

I hope that you and your students enjoy using my "Aa" Letter of the Week Packet! This 1st one is on me!
