Product Description
This written response activity created by Contextual Classroom is an extension activity for the short story,"The Possibility of Evil" by Shirley Jackson. The assignment asks students to craft their own thoughts on Miss Strangeworth's actions in a Letter to the Editor format. The students are challenged to take on the voice of a townsperson affected by the events in the story.

This file includes instructions for the written response and a short grading rubric.

My students had a lot of fun with this in the classroom using their creativity to express their personal thoughts. This assignment requires the students to develop a thorough response and refer back to specific details from the text to support their opinions.
