I created this independent center to be a resource that students could use as they are learning the correct formation of how to write the alphabet letters. I am always looking for ways to make the learning a multi-sensory experience for my students. I like how these learning mats can be printed in color, laminated, and used over and over again. The children can also practice writing the letters using dry erase markers on the laminated copies. After your students create the image with unifix cubes, challenge them to write the letter, and connect the letter to the beginning sound of the picture. This is a fun way to link letters with beginning sounds and an anchor picture. I hope these mats prove to be a favorite!
Each consonant has one unifix cube creation page that includes handwriting practice and an anchor image to help the child link the letter with its matching sound.
Each vowel has two unifix cube creation pages that includes handwriting practice and an anchor image for both the long and short vowel sound to help the child link the letter with its matching sounds.
Happy Teaching! :)
