Educational terminology has changed and is changing frequently. Unfortunately, parents are often unaware of the newer terms used to teach and evaluate their children. This bundle of letters attempts to tell parents what is happening in your classroom. Depending on your district, some of the letters will apply and some may not.The letter about Standards in applicable in all states. Writing is the same no matter what program is used, or if there is no specific one. The steps for helping parents to work with their children in reading and problem solving are useful no matter the series for reading and math in the district. Those for Rubrics, Assessment, Portfolios, and Homework might differ according to policy. All of the letters can serve as models and be adapted to meet a teacher's or district's needs. These letters handed out in a booklet at the beginning of the year say that you want to work with the parents to make their child successful. Talk to parents!
