Pattern building Challenge Level 5 is a great follow up to our Pattern Building Level 4 activity. It supports further development in visual acuity, creativity and attention. It requires mathematical thinking with flexibility as the proportions of the patterns and the Base Cards differ in size. It is suitable for children age 9 +. Whatever the age, we are confident children will enjoy and continue learning through this exploration!
Children love to play and learn best through explorations. Our activities cater to the anthroposophical approach to learning, nurturing the child holistically, through intellectual, artistic, and practical skills. The learning theories of Montessori education are an integral part of these activities, supporting the child’s sensorial development from concrete experiences toward an abstract understanding. It is through their own discoveries, self-correction, and Aha! moments, that these games support a deeper learning. We hope that you will discover the value children experience while engaging in this activity, and feel inspired to continue to explore our other games and activities.
12 Patterns are built using 25 Base Cards. Continued play with this Level 5 activity helps children learn to persevere, focus attention, compare to find mistakes and self-correct.
This activity supports the mind to develop strategies of thinking and seeing needed for further development. With focus, children can quickly make great progress. If children have worked with our Level 1 - 4 activities and developed focus, larger groups of children (6 – 12) can work in the same space on this activity and continue to learn.
In our observations and research, we found skills such as creativity, mathematical thinking, visual discernment, flexibility, spatial perception, and symmetry emerge over time. There has been improvement in attention and ability to engage in activities for longer increments of time, even with children initially presenting with attention difficulties. Regular opportunities (at least 1 time/week) to work with our games and activities helps support this development. Feel free to contact us to know more about our research: email@example.com.
This game comes with clear, step by step game instructions. There are 25 Base Cards, 12 Patterns, and 3 sheets of elements (all the small parts that make up the base cards) to print in color. For ease of use and to last longer, the printed Base Cards and elements can to be and glued on cardstock, and the Medium Patterns laminated.
