Looking for a way to spice up vocabulary review for your students? Here's a great vocabulary review that gets students thinking creatively and out of their seats!
The presentation contains eight images on separate slides. Using their vocabulary books (Sadlier Vocabulary Workshop, 2012 edition), students write down the word that they think fits best with each image. After the last image, go back to the first one with students and call on students at random to say which word they chose for each image. Sometimes students come up with more than one word that could make sense, which makes for great discussion. Answers to the images are in the "Notes" section of the PowerPoint.
The last slide contains several sentence stems with vocab words. I have students all stand up. They take turns passing around a small stuffed mouse (or a ball, or whatever object you want to use!), and whoever has the mouse has to choose one of the sentences to complete in a way that makes sense with the vocab word. Once they say their sentence, they get to sit back down.
